Method for calculating the angle of a pipe bending machine

Nov 16, 2025

There are two main methods:

1. The equal division method: This method calculates the arc length corresponding to each angle by dividing the arc length into equal parts. This method is suitable for small bending angles (generally not exceeding 180 degrees).

2. The arc length method: This method calculates the corresponding arc length based on the central angle and the radius. This method is suitable for larger bending angles.

Taking the equal division method as an example, the specific calculation formula is as follows:

1. Calculate the total circumference: C = π * D
Where C is the total circumference, and D is the pipe diameter.

2. Calculate the arc length corresponding to each angle: L = C * (θ/360)
Where L is the arc length corresponding to a certain angle, and θ is the size of that angle.

For example, if a steel pipe with a diameter of 50mm is to bend into a 120-degree U-shape, then according to the equal division method, the arc length corresponding to each angle is:

C = π * 50 = 157.08mm
L = C * (120/360) = 52.36mm

Therefore, during the processing, operators can use tools such as rulers and gauges to measure each angle that needs to be processed and convert it into the corresponding arc length for operation.
